Commercial Closet: Macy's Shows 'Marriage' to Gays
By Michael Wilke
Just weeks after the California Supreme Court said 'I do' to same-sex marriage, Macy's West division ran full page newspaper ads in San Francisco and Los Angeles geared to gay couples. Although Macy's is the biggest retailer to create same-sex marriage ads and use store windows to celebrate Pride, it isn't the first.

Proudly Out: Winning and Losing
By Libby Post
There’s so much to write about this week. Should I give you my take on the Mets’ unseemly firing of Willie Randolph? Should I shift my focus to November when we must go into the Presidential election without the late, great Tim Russert and his white board? And what about those same-sex marriages up for grabs because of an initiative to amend an inclusive state constitution?

Power in Numbers - The Gay Vote
By Sara Whitman
Two of the most taken for granted votes in the Democratic Party are African-Americans and LGBT folks. I mean, who are we going to vote for? John McCain? Please. The reality, though, is that aside from some lip service along the line that our rights and needs will be addressed, the candidates know they are going to get our vote and drop our issues like a hot potato.

Gay Marriage: A Singular Mission
Op-Ed
By Scott Schmidt
With a Presidential campaign, a seemingly endless war against global terrorism and a shaky economy, it can be all too easy for the gay community to take its eyes off the prize. Defeating the repeal of marriage equality in California must be the gay and lesbian community’s number one priority between now and November.

A Series of Unstoppable Events: The Fight for Gay Marriage Begins Again
By Sara Whitman
Not only is there marriage equality in Massachusetts but by June 17th, there will be marriage equality in California. And if you’re married in either of those two states? Gov. David Patterson of New York says, 'You will be acknowledged and welcome here.' And now... the real fight begins.

California Gay Marriage: Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Right?
Op-Ed
By David Salter
It has been two weeks since the California Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage. And despite a number of Chicken Littles channeling their anxiety through press releases and editorials, the sky is not falling... yet. But I should point out the sheer idiocy of those who would vote for John McCain out of spite should their preferred nominee not prevail in Denver. Cue sky... falling fast.

Hypocrite of the Week: Mark McKinnon, McCain Chief Advertising Strategist
By Duane Wells
Several months ago Mark McKinnon, Sen. John McCain’s chief advertising strategist, announced he would resign his role if Barack Obama became the Democratic Party’s nominee for president. This week, McKinnon stepped down from his post. But because his bold move appeared to be more about political calculation than political courage, Mark McKinnon is the hypocrite of the week.

Who's Got the Fuzzier Math? Clinton or Obama?
By Duane Wells
Sen. Hillary Clinton argues that wins in democratic strongholds and support from core party constituencies give her a stronger electoral advantage over John McCain in November's. Conversely Barack Obama believes that he and his supporters can potentially deliver states for the democrats that have eluded the party for years, which will add up to a democratic win. So whose math is fuzzier?

Unsung Heroes of the Gay World: Vexillographer Gilbert Baker
By UK Gay News
Gilbert Baker does not roll off the tongue as a name that everyone knows—as a giant of worldwide community of gay men and women, like Elton John or Ellen DeGeneres. Mention Gilbert Baker when you pop into the pub or bar tonight and you are more than likely to get a 'Gilbert who?' response. But then, what this gay man gave the world is instantly recognizable—and not only to the international LGBT community, but to most people on this planet.

Proudly Out: Life and Death
By Libby Post
It’s hard enough to be sick in a hospital. Now imagine you’re there and the one you share your life with is deliberately left out of medical decision making or even barred from visiting. Because our relationships are not legally recognized in most of our fifty states, lesbians and gays can find themselves in legal limbo when it comes to protecting the health and well being of our loved ones.
